fall--already
Hello--I'm off the road for a couple of weeks so I can catch up. We are having the entire interior of our house painted starting today and I am actually using color--and in some cases--strong color--terrifying. Oh well, change is good--so they say...
cool kelly--I haven't played Canal Street for awhile--no dates booked there at the moment but I'm sure I'll come back that way sooner or later--just check the calendar.
Warren--"I Can't Hear The Whisper" was on one of John's solo records--unfortunately I don't play it and there's no tab that I know of. A good musician could probably learn it off the record for you and write up a simple tab. Sorry I couldn't help.
Cecilia Plaza--long time since I heard from you, girl! Congrats on the PhD--I'm not surprised. I've got a couple of dates in Arizona--one is not open to the public but the one on the 7th is. Is that too far for you? If you come I'll sing Lesson Of Love.
Randy Evans--Glad you like the new c.d.--I always enjoy my visits with you and your family (both church and immediate!). The Steve Winwood story is this: Steve married a Nashville girl, Gina and they have a home in Nashville. At one point they lived here for a year and we attended the same church. I was asked to lead worship one Sunday and asked the music director to invite Steve to play (I had met him and sung with him on a couple of events). He agreed and played organ on all the hymns, double Leslie and all--it was spectacular. He told me he has a great love for hymns as well and over time we did a duet of What A Friend We Have In Jesus at church and I asked him if he would consider a duet with me on a hymn record I was working on. He agreed and we recorded it--actually while we were working on Second Skin and tucked it away for this project. I'm sure he had forgotten about it but it is a favorite of mine on the record. He is such an inspiration to me--both as an artist and a person.

More answered mail
Suzy Heer--Thanks for sending the "groaner" (sounds like something from "Harry Potter". I love the "howlers"--letters yelling at people). I'll try it and if it's a fit, I'll use it Thanks for your support and for including my music in your life

Thanks to Lu, George, Stephan, Erin Alexa, Bell, Wiley Coyote (!?) and Randy D. for the upcoming tour name suggestions. I got a big kick out of Kirk's idea: Fret Monkeys For Jesus Tour. Very creative, Kirk. I'm looking forward to the tour and seeing some of you--I think it will be a lot of laughs and great songs.

Thank you, thank you to Wade Thompson, Susan Preece and Richard Smith for the wonderful reviews of the record--your comments were so thoughtful and heartfelt. All of you have been such great supporters--I so appreciate it.

more summer 2005
Hi everyone--I'ld like to answer more of the mail starting with February. I know this is redundant but if you write me, it may take six months for me to reply but I love to hear from you and will reply to most of the mail. If it's time sensitive, flag it for Rose--she is so good about getting me things.

Thanks for the birthday greetings to Crystal Davis, Susan Preece, Mark Stephenson, Rennie Stagnaro, Diane Woodring, Martha Henson, Fred Morgan and Ted Griffin. Susan and Crystal--lovely, as always to see you at the Swallow; Diane--same with you and Brian at the Bluebird; I think your Caroline Grace is darling--hope you're having a great summer. Mark--I sang Invitational Blues on a Rex Carroll record--I think my buddy Phil Madeira wrote that song but I don't remember it so I don't refer to it. I'll dig around and see if I have a copy of the record--might be fun to work up. Thanks for the being a steadfast fan--truly, it's people like you who have given me a career in music.

Pat Ammentorp--thanks for the birthday greeting and your wonderful letter--I love the tattoo story--you have courage, hope and a sense of humor--what a wicked combination!! I'll be in Milwaukee this fall I think--maybe I'll see you there.

Demaris L. Myer--Memphis on Saturday, Sept. 10th with Bruce Carroll and Bob Bennett. Thanks for writing.

Lisa Lombardo and Martha Henson--Connecticut in October (I know it's not your church Lisa but is it close enough to you? Hope so). Martha--I'll be spending my 49th and final (...) birthday on the KT cruise next year--will that be your 50th?
I must say--for me fifty is a bit daunting.

O.K.--my dogs are barking (Curtis and Trixey--not my feet) so it must be time to go to the park. More soon.
